“One day, one place, 50,000 in prayer.”
For Singapore’s Jubilee year, the annual Global Day of Prayer (GDOP) has been designated as Jubilee Day of Prayer (JDOP) and Bishop Dr Wee Boon Hup of The Methodist Church in Singapore is chairing this year’s Steering Committee. This “premier, historic Christian event” will be held on 5 July at the revamped National Stadium in the new Sports Hub and the theme verse is Luke 4:18-19 – “to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour”.
JDOP is jointly organised by the National Council of Churches of Singapore (NCCS) and the Evangelical Fellowship of Singapore (EFOS), which has been coordinating and leading in the GDOP in Singapore for the past nine years.
The Anglicans, Assemblies of God, Baptists, Brethren churches, Evangelical Free Church of Singapore, Lutherans, Methodists and Presbyterians are strongly supportive and will be participating in JDOP. Some, as anchor churches, have been instrumental in organising previous centralised gatherings such as those at the National Stadium, Indoor Stadium, and Expo.
City@Prayer meetings for JDOP have been held at St. Andrew’s Cathedral on the third Friday of each month since Jan and two vision meetings for pastors, pastoral and full-time staff have been held on 11 Feb and 20 May.
This special prayer celebration has been made possible by the full support of partners like NCCS, Singapore Baptist Convention, Indian Christian Network, National Prayer Alliance, LoveSingapore and the Festival of Praise. On 5 July, be one of the 50,000 who will come together for JDOP, a “once-in-a-lifetime prayer meeting”!
